THIS AND THAT AND THE CAT IN THE HAT

"Dogs come when they are called, cats take a message and get back to you later."

Mary Bly

"Cats cannot be made to do anything useful. Cats are mean for the fun of it."

P. J. O Rourke

"There are two means of refruge from the miseries of life music and cats."

Albert Schweitzer

"It is a matter to gain the affection of a cat. He is a philosophical animal, tenacious of his own habits, fond of order and neatness, and disinclined to extravagant sentiment. He will be your friend, if he finds you worthy of friendship, but not your slave."

Theodhile Gautier

"Watch a cat when it enters a room for the first time. It searches and smells about, it is not quiet for a moment, it trusts nothing until it has examined and made aquaintance with everything."

Jean Jacques Rousseau

"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to it."

Robert A. Heinlein

THE CAT IN THE HAT ON AGING

I cannot see

I cannot pee

I cannot chew

I cannot screw

Oh my god, what can I do?

My memory shrinks

My hearing stinks

No sense of smell

I look like hell

My mood is bad- can you tell?

My body's drooping

Have trouble pooping

The Golden Years

have come at last

The Golden Years can kiss my ass.

The cat in the Hat is now 52 years old. It was published in 1957 and it is estimated that 10 and a half million copies of the book have been sold. That is not including sales from Scholastic At Home Club.
