How quickly they have grown

They were so tiny and helpless, blind, and deaf, they depended on their mother Abigail for all their needs. They went from crawling around their space dragging their back legs behind them to opening their eyes and then their ears slowly opened up and they began to recognize sounds and my voice. Then they began to look like tiny little bobble heads unsteady in their movements, clumsy but trying to explore and to play. They found out that food was good and messy. At first they got more on them than in their mouths, it was on their feet, in their fur and on their tiny faces. Mother Abagail cleaned them and talked to them in kitty language and helped them grow, It did not take much time and they went from eating kitty glop to hard kitten food, they knew when 6:00 PM came around to expect a special dinner treat ( Friskies moist food) They quickly grew more independent and instead of sleeping together in a bunch they began to spread out, one on the bed, another under the bed, on the computer desk, etc. sometimes they would play so hard they would just fall over asleep, exhausted on the floor. Mother Abagail did not like them becoming independent for the longest time, she wanted them to surround her and every time they got away from her she talked to them in her own kitty voice, very stressed and going on for hours until her voice became strained to barely a whisper. They ignored her pleas of course and ventured off in every direction exploring the upstairs rooms, the hallway, lying in the sun in the patio door, watching birds and squirrels out the windows, they began to creep down the stairs very cautiously at first and began exploring the downstairs, living room, dining, kitchen and bath. They found the huge screened in porch and they had kitty Olympics running all through these spaces, playing tag, tackling each other, jumping on Mom and Daddy Zachary, and Aunt Zoe as well. Abagail tried to scold them and keep them in a safe zone I suppose, every night her voice continued to go away. She finally gave up I suppose as they went in every direction other than where she wanted them to go. They became happy, healthy, in to everything 2lbs 2 ounce balls of fur, adorable, fast as lightening running little balls of fluff. I still ask myself how is it possible that they grew from tiny and helpless to adorable independent so fast. It seems like yesterday that I was anxiously counting down those last days to delivery, wondering how many kittens we would have and what they might look like and now three are gone, they have moved on to their forever homes, three in a weeks time have started their new lives, with new moms, new families, and new animals, they have met new dog friends and are all doing well. Cinder (black smoke male) is still with us and mom and dad but will be leaving for his forever home next weekend to live with Robyn Whitaker and family in Woodstock Va.Robyn's 16 year old son is anxiously awaiting his arrival and he will be good for them, he will help heal their broken hearts as they lost their black smoke Claus who will rejoin them someday at the Rainbow Bridge. I am sure little Cinder will bring them lots of smiles and joy.

Becca (blue female) has settled here in Charleston with Diane Blackwell and her pom Lexie. Diane loves her already and has named her Beckka Bluebell. Diane tells me that Lexie is a little afraid of her because she hisses at her. I imagine that they will be fast friends in no time as she is the sweetest an the biggest baby of the bunch. We miss you Becca,

Ms. Chevious Izzie Bella Fuzzybutt (female blue point Himalayan) who was to stay with us has gone to live in her forever home near Richmond Va. with a wonderful lady named Judy Bishop. Judy lost her 18 year old cat and has been sad for a long time, I loved Izzie Bella Fuzzybutt but Judy needed her more, she is going to be a great kitty Mom and has made her a pink bed, bought her a pink blanket, toys and she has filtered water of course. Thank you Judy for being the perfect mom for my little baby Fuzzybutt.

Leo the Lion (lilac point male Himalayan) is now living with Brittany Travis and her family in Doddridge County WV. I think he has been named Hurley by Brittany and has two new Maltese doggie pals and lives very close to Doddridge State Park. Brittany reserved him when he was about 5 weeks old and finally got to meet him and take him home when he was nine weeks. Brittany told me he is adjusting well and is getting along fine with the dogs.

I'm sure Abagail misses her babies, she looks under the bed for them on occasion as this was a favorite hiding place for them to hang out. Cinder is still keeping her company for a little while longer. I miss them too and am glad they have found homes with responsible people who will love and protect them. It has been a wonderful experience and I cannot wait until we can do it again, but it is truly amazing to me how fast they grow.
