THE HOLIDAYS ARE HERE

Its been a busy time for most of us with the holidays once again . I always enjoy the holidays and it seems like I spend so much time getting prepared, then I blink and they are over until the next year.

I spent Thanksgiving this year at my parents house in Lewisburg with Mom, Dad, my younger sister Karen and her husband David. We also had the pleasure of meeting Mackenzie the newest and youngest granddaughter of Karen who is quite lucky thus far to have four beautiful grandaughters while Gary and I have none, no girls or boys and we are beginning to wonder how does one raise two boys who are now 29 and 32 , one married and one engaged and not have ANY grandchildren anywhere??? I would love to have a grandchild and would especially love to have a little girl. I suppose time will tell the story. I in the meanwhile will continue breeding my Persians and enjoying those adorable little furrie purrees.

We had an enjoyable Thanksgiving and it was great to catch up with my sis and her beautiful little angel Mackenzie.

Shortly after returning home from our Thanksgiving trip I started decorating the house for Christmas. I put up two Christmas trees, the largest one 71/2 feet tall and so big around that I have alot of trouble trying to put the lights and beads around it. I have tons and tons of ornaments that I have gathered through the years and I would imagine that I had around seven hours total into decorating this huge tree which I put in our dining room so I would not have to move any furniture out of the living room. I put up a smaller tree in the living room and they were absolutley beautiful after all the mess was cleaned up and I got the chance to sit down and enjoy them. I then with my husband Gary began the task of the outside decorating and I must say that I am so pissed off at the lights that you buy these days, they can be new just out of the box and work fine when you do the initial plug in to test them but once they are hanging on the house they just go bonkers and half the string refuses to light even though the box says if a bulb burns out the rest will stay lit. I took down several strands and replaced them and one of them still went out dead center of the strand. I gave up as it was to much trouble to keep dragging out the ladder over and over. I remember when Christmas lights would burn for years and could be used for many holidays to come. I would imagine that the stores receive almost as many back as they sold due to this defect and would be wise to carry better lights not made in China in the future.

All said and done with the shopping and the decorating it has been a busy time and I love this time of the year but am always just a little bit disappointed after the packages are opened and all is done. It seems like we spend so much time getting ready and in 10 minutes time the gifts are opened and Christmas is done and the New Year is coming. I hope all of you out there reading this had a nice holiday season and remembered the real reason for the season. It's a time for giving from your heart and being thankful for who and what we are. Jesus is the real reason for the season indeed.

I will leave the Holiday decorations up until after New Years and hope and pray that we have some nice mild days coming so it will be easier to take down the outside decorations without freezing while taking on the task. One thing about it they always seem to come down much faster than it took to put them up .

Enjoy the photos and Happy New Year to all !!!

STUPID THINGS PEOPLE DO

Some people seem to do really stupid and annoying things and I don't think they realize they are doing it. For example take the panic alarms on cars which were designed to be a safety feature, just hit the panic button, the headlights flash, the horn blows, blows, and blows. I loved having this and when I first got a car with this feature I just knew, if any person up to no good, followed me to my car they were busted because I could hit my panic button for everyone to hear then help would come quickly. Well think again. There are simply to many stupid people in the world letting this alarm go off on a daily basis that it is so commonplace, as we hear it over and over that we think not about someone needing help, we simply think "Another stupid person who tried to lock his or her car with the remote and hit the panic button." Do you think this too? I hear the panic alarms day and night in my neighborhood, I never check to see if there might be a problem because it has become a constant, everyday thing and I hate it. I really become annoyed when it goes on and on before the person who owns the car has enough sense to turn it off. I once watched in amazement, a lady who tried to unlock her car with her keyless remote but instead hit the panic alarm, she then proceeded to get inside her car with the key and began driving away with the lights still flashing and the horn still beeping. I went out to the parking lot and helped her turn off the panic alarm.
Another thing that bugs me are people who drink only bottled water thinking it is better for them than water from the tap. Have we not all read articles, watched news reports that tell us that bottled water in most instances is filled from a faucet and lots of times with a water hose? I realize that bottled water is convenient and is in most vending machines these days. It can be nicely tucked into a purse or lunchbag and taken with you when on the go. I drink bottled water on occasion myself but have also filled my empty water bottle with water from my kitchen faucet to tuck into my purse or lunchbag to take with me too. I think the water from my faucet is actually safer and has flouride, is filtered, and is much cheaper than buying water from vending machines or by the case at the grocery store. I know that someone out there reading this will totally disagree with me and say what I'm doing is just plain stupid, but I would strongly suggest that you check out your facts first and do a little research on bottled water and then tell me that I am wrong.

I am also a smoker and I know that most people these days hate us smokers. I am happy for all of you who hate us so much that we have been banished outside in all kinds of weather, we cannot smoke in most public places, forget sitting down in a nice resturant and enjoying our after meal cigarette, or even going to a bar and having the right to smoke while having a drink. It's out. I once had a nasty lady come up to me while I was enjoying a cigarette break at work, outside away from everyone, fifteen feet away from the entrance, being cautious as to not break any rules in a parking lot where anyone who was offended by my cigarette smoke could easily go around me. This lady made a point to come up to me and put her finger right in my face and say. " I can't believe that you are smoking, My husband just got out of the hospital and has heart problems due to smoking." "You need to put that nasty thing out before it kills you." I looked at her in amazement and said " What about the 4 bottles of booze that you have in your little brown bags? Do you not think that the booze might kill you too?" I finished by saying that " I can at least not be intoxicated while driving when I am smoking." she left in a huff but said not another word about smoking or anything else. I am a very courteous smoker and I do not try to bother anyone else who does not like smoking. If you don"t like to be around it then go into the entrance another way as the parking lot is huge and you do not have to make a point of purpously walking in front of me and waving your hand, glaring at me as you go by. My parents still smoke and are 79 and 72 and aging very well, they still live alone and have had no major illnessness due to smoking, no heart attacks, no strokes, and no cancer, in fact they have aged very well. I know smoking is not good for you, I know I should quit and could save a lot of money, but I enjoy my cigarettes and will smoke as long as I choose to. I believe that all this crap about secondhand smoke is in the most part bogus, I believe that most smoking related illness is genetic, it tends to run in families. You nonsmokers out there are probably thinking that I am the stupid one now and you have as much right to your opinion as I have to mine, but if you see me outside smoking and it bugs you please go around me, don't wave you hand, don't give me dirty looks. It's a big world out there, you don't have to walk through my secondhand smoke unless you choose to.

Another thing that bothers me is cell phone abuse, everybody has one and they are great for checking with the kids, to take along when you are expecting that all important call, and they are a big plus when you have an emergency, otherwise turn them off or let your voice mail pick them up and return the call at a more convenient time. Don't block the isles at the grocery store by coming to a dead stop in front of me fumbling in your purse or pocket trying to answer your cell phone, Don't hold up traffic when the light changes from red to green by not paying attention by yacking on your cell, Don't pace back and forth by my window at my shop talking on the cell for 45 minutes when you could have been in and out having all your erands completed and home already if you had not been yacking on that darn cell phone. This is a true story that to my utter amazement I and other people who witnessed this incident still have a problem believing that this stupid mother needs or deserves kids. I watched from the window of my shop on a nice summer day, a mother, with two children,a boy and a girl coming up the sidewalk on their way to the Rite Aid Pharmacy. Mom's cell rang, she answered it, she paced back and forth in front of my shop window for quite a while, she paced back and forth up and down the sidewalk for quite a long time as well, the children wanted to go into the store as they were very bored with mom just totally shutting them out and talking on the cell phone. Mom after about 30 minutes of pacing up and down the walkway finially sat down on the side of the flower planter, the children were running up and down the walkway like crazy. The Rite Aid Pharmacy has automatic doors that are dangerous to children and animals that are unsupervised. The little boy and girl then startrd running in and out of the doors while Mom sat on the side of the flower planter, with her head down and her hand at her forhead sort of holding her head up, talking on her cell phone for another 30 minutes or more. One of the clerks at Rite Aid came out of the store trying to get the children to behave and stop running in and out of the automatic doors with no luck, she then noticed the motherwith her head in her hand, sitting on the edge of the flower planter talking on her cell phone. The nice clerk was concerned that perhaps something might be wrong with the woman and walked down the walkway to check on her to make sure she was alright. The stupid women snapped at her nastily and said "Of course I'm alright and your inturupting my call." the clerk looked totally puzzled and went back into the Rite Aid to check out her customers. The children at this point grew tierd of playing with the automatic doors and went to get Mom's car keys to retrieve a ball from the car. Mom meanwhile is still on her call while the children are playing kickball in the parking lot, kicking the ball into other cars, hitting windshields and store windows in the process, they then begin to climb up on to Moms minivan, jumping up and down on the hood, climbing onto the roof top of the minivan and jumping onto the hood. People were gathering on the sidewalk watching them in total amazement, the little girl then jumped off the roof missing the hood and fell onto the walkway, screaming with a banged up bloody knee. Then Mom finially came, picked her up and went inside the Rite Aid, still talking on her cell phone with the children tagging behind, into everything they could grab and touch along the way. This is definately cell phone abuse and I see it happening more and more each day.

These are a few of the things that bug me, I could go on and on about stupid things that stupid people do. I would if I thought it would make a difference but I know that it will not because some people, may be book smart, but they have absolutley not an ounce of common sense. I wonder how they have made it in life this far and wish them lots of luck in the future as they are for sure going to need it.

How I Love Halloween

Custom Search

I suppose I am still a child at heart as I still LOVE Halloween. I get the house decorated with lots of decorations in early October and most of the decorating takes place on the huge front porch of my 100 year old house. I have lived in this old house now for 20 years and the porches are what sold me as they add so much character, we have three porches in total and they are not only a great place to decorate for the holidays but also a great place for family gatherings, surprise parties, and relaxing, The one that I relax on most is off my kitchen and is screened where I sit and read on my wicker furniture, with my cats who lay on the railings watching the birds and squirrels in the 100 year old hemlock pines that line the back yard, The cats enjoy sunbathing here while I am enjoying my morning coffee, and my dinner in the evening. There is another porch under this one that is also screened and goes into the back yard where underneath the hemlocks grows lots of English Ivy and not much else as the hemlocks shade the area and are constantly dropping needles into the soil making it to shady and the soil is very acidic which makes it hard to grow most plants, even grass does not grow here but I have found out that poison ivy thrives here along with the ivy. Off this porch in my woodsy back yard where I like to make my Halloween graveyard.

My boys are all grown now with lives of their own and I miss the Halloween parties and parades from their younger years and the adventures of going door to door with them in their favorite costumes and hearing them saying Trick Or Treat and watching their faces light up with delight when they received their treats from the kind people behind those closed doors.

I have spider webs with spiders, lots of pumpkins and scarecrows, skeletons, a huge life size Frankenstein who sets in the porch swing, a large witch flying with the moon behind her that hangs on the wall of the front porch, a lighted tombstone,a little ghost who is so darling, who is child sized that sits by the front door and of course a fog machine, along with various monster heads that are motion activated that scream, laugh eerily or wail when the kids come to the door where when they step on the doormat, it makes screaming noises, we also play some spooky Halloween music to set the mood and they absolutely love it. There are kids from years ago, some of who now are parents of their own children who tell us how much they loved to visit my house for Halloween as it was the spookiest, coolest house on the block. Last year a young man told me I had serious competition a street over. I asked him what that house had that I did not and he said a fog machine. I now have a fog machine and it is a really cool item as when you push the remote control button you get a little or a lot of creeping misty fog depending on how long you hold down the button. I think what I enjoy most is putting on my favorite Halloween costume and passing out the candy to the large and small trick or treaters and watching their faces light up with delight and their eyes looking around at all the decorations in awe, some braver than others who try to hit or kick at the skeletons or Frankenstein and some who creep onto the porch slowly and seem a bit afraid, some make mom or dad come off the street with them to the door for security I suppose.

We had approximately 30 to 40 trick or treaters this year and I enjoy telling them how cute they look in their costumes that are quite a variety, most with painted faces, my how the costume's have gotten better since I was a child. My favorite costume this year was a toddler dressed in faux fur that looked real as Yoda, he was following his older sister alias Snow White and was so in to the moment that he did not care about getting a treat, he was adorable. I saw lots of great looking spider man costumes, their seemed to be a lot of those, witches, and of course Dracula, also two kids from the hood who were dressed as jailbirds with signs declaring them to be Paris Hilton in jail. Imagine that, Lots of princesses, brides, etc.

I always enjoyed being either a princess or a witch and I remember one year when I was about 9 years old that I had a particulary bad Halloween night. We had a lot of fun in those days and we got shopping bags full of candy and some really good candied apples from a close neighbor year ofter year that I always looked forward to. My Dad was with us that year and I was the oldest of four children with a sister five years younger than I and two brothers one being 2 years younger than me and one seven years younger being the baby of the family. We had been to so many houses and the younger children were getting tuckered out and we had loads of candy,as in those days you got full size candy bars and not fun sized ones. I climbed up quite a few steps to small wooden porch, knocked on the door and yelled Trick or Treat, the door opened and I got my goodies and said thank you to the nice lady, then promptly tried to cross the porch the wrong way and fell several feet off the wrong side of the porch bruising me up a bit but most of all hurting my pride for being so stupid. In those days we had the plastic masks with the little eye holes that pulled down over your face and were attached by a plastic band and boy were they hot. Daddy decided that we should head home after that and we started home hitting the houses on the opposite side of the street as we went. We finally arrived at our driveway and I told Dad that we had to visit our next door neighbour, so that I could show off my princess costume and get my candied apple that she made every year. Dad said he would call and tell her that we were to tired and we would come by the next day to get it. I begged him but he said the younger siblings were to tired to go to just one more house. I told him I was a big girl and I wanted to show Mrs. Comer my costume and enjoy that candied apple before bedtime, I promised him that I would go no further than Mrs. Comer's house and to take my younger brothers and sister home and I would be right back. Dad always had a way of letting me get my way and agreed that I could go and come straight home. I was hot from the plastic mask on my face so I pushed it up on top of my head while crossing the yard to the Comer house and intended to walk up the steps to the Comer's front porch, pull the mask down to show off my princess costume before ringing the doorbell. I started up the steps to the Comer's porch and there were three older, taller boys behind me laughing with their masks covering their faces. One of them grabbed me and pulled my princess mask down over my face, he then pushed me down and took my shopping bag full of candy. I was shocked and lay crying on the ground by the first step to the Comer's porch when Mr and Mrs. Comer came running to my rescue. Dad also came running across the yard and the Comers told him what had happened. Boy was Dad pissed, his face was red and he asked Mrs. Comer to walk me home while he went in search of the candy bandits. Dad was worn out from dragging the two younger siblings this Halloween night and I don't think I have ever seen him move so fast, he ran to his car and took off to find the boys who had taken my candy, only to return about 30 minutes later, which seemed to me an eternity. He had not only gotten back my shopping bag full of candy, but two others shopping bags full of the boys candy as well. He told mom that he had found three boys walking just up the road and one of them had two bags of candy and they happened to be my friend's brothers and were about 5 and 7 years older than me. The Drennen boys. Dad went to their house and told their Dad what they had done to me and their Dad made them give their candy up to learn a lesson. I thought my Dad was quite a hero and needless to say I enjoyed those mean old Drennen boy's shopping bags full of candy for many weeks to come.

Happy Halloween All!!!!!!!

How quickly they have grown

They were so tiny and helpless, blind, and deaf, they depended on their mother Abigail for all their needs. They went from crawling around their space dragging their back legs behind them to opening their eyes and then their ears slowly opened up and they began to recognize sounds and my voice. Then they began to look like tiny little bobble heads unsteady in their movements, clumsy but trying to explore and to play. They found out that food was good and messy. At first they got more on them than in their mouths, it was on their feet, in their fur and on their tiny faces. Mother Abagail cleaned them and talked to them in kitty language and helped them grow, It did not take much time and they went from eating kitty glop to hard kitten food, they knew when 6:00 PM came around to expect a special dinner treat ( Friskies moist food) They quickly grew more independent and instead of sleeping together in a bunch they began to spread out, one on the bed, another under the bed, on the computer desk, etc. sometimes they would play so hard they would just fall over asleep, exhausted on the floor. Mother Abagail did not like them becoming independent for the longest time, she wanted them to surround her and every time they got away from her she talked to them in her own kitty voice, very stressed and going on for hours until her voice became strained to barely a whisper. They ignored her pleas of course and ventured off in every direction exploring the upstairs rooms, the hallway, lying in the sun in the patio door, watching birds and squirrels out the windows, they began to creep down the stairs very cautiously at first and began exploring the downstairs, living room, dining, kitchen and bath. They found the huge screened in porch and they had kitty Olympics running all through these spaces, playing tag, tackling each other, jumping on Mom and Daddy Zachary, and Aunt Zoe as well. Abagail tried to scold them and keep them in a safe zone I suppose, every night her voice continued to go away. She finally gave up I suppose as they went in every direction other than where she wanted them to go. They became happy, healthy, in to everything 2lbs 2 ounce balls of fur, adorable, fast as lightening running little balls of fluff. I still ask myself how is it possible that they grew from tiny and helpless to adorable independent so fast. It seems like yesterday that I was anxiously counting down those last days to delivery, wondering how many kittens we would have and what they might look like and now three are gone, they have moved on to their forever homes, three in a weeks time have started their new lives, with new moms, new families, and new animals, they have met new dog friends and are all doing well. Cinder (black smoke male) is still with us and mom and dad but will be leaving for his forever home next weekend to live with Robyn Whitaker and family in Woodstock Va.Robyn's 16 year old son is anxiously awaiting his arrival and he will be good for them, he will help heal their broken hearts as they lost their black smoke Claus who will rejoin them someday at the Rainbow Bridge. I am sure little Cinder will bring them lots of smiles and joy.

Becca (blue female) has settled here in Charleston with Diane Blackwell and her pom Lexie. Diane loves her already and has named her Beckka Bluebell. Diane tells me that Lexie is a little afraid of her because she hisses at her. I imagine that they will be fast friends in no time as she is the sweetest an the biggest baby of the bunch. We miss you Becca,

Ms. Chevious Izzie Bella Fuzzybutt (female blue point Himalayan) who was to stay with us has gone to live in her forever home near Richmond Va. with a wonderful lady named Judy Bishop. Judy lost her 18 year old cat and has been sad for a long time, I loved Izzie Bella Fuzzybutt but Judy needed her more, she is going to be a great kitty Mom and has made her a pink bed, bought her a pink blanket, toys and she has filtered water of course. Thank you Judy for being the perfect mom for my little baby Fuzzybutt.

Leo the Lion (lilac point male Himalayan) is now living with Brittany Travis and her family in Doddridge County WV. I think he has been named Hurley by Brittany and has two new Maltese doggie pals and lives very close to Doddridge State Park. Brittany reserved him when he was about 5 weeks old and finally got to meet him and take him home when he was nine weeks. Brittany told me he is adjusting well and is getting along fine with the dogs.

I'm sure Abagail misses her babies, she looks under the bed for them on occasion as this was a favorite hiding place for them to hang out. Cinder is still keeping her company for a little while longer. I miss them too and am glad they have found homes with responsible people who will love and protect them. It has been a wonderful experience and I cannot wait until we can do it again, but it is truly amazing to me how fast they grow.

The Kittens are 6 weeks old on Tuesday

How Fast they have grown in such a short time

Today is Saturday Sept. 13th and my babies are becoming little monsters, I come to visit and feed them and they climb up my legs, arms, and back when I am cleaning the cage, litterbox, etc. They no longer are clumsy, they climb up the side of the kitty condo, as well as up the kitty scratching post, They wrestle each other, wrestle mom,and me, They run most everywhere they go and gang up in threes to get mom.

They are learning not just to lick solid foods and get it all over them, but they are actually learning that they can chew it. Izzie is the slowest one as she still wants to lick and suck at the food and be hand fed. Cinder (black Persian male) is as always the smartest and the first to accomplish everything, he did a bog boy poo in the litter box today and seemed so proud. Leo the Lion (lilac point Himalayan male) is peeing in the box and figured out last evening that shredded chicken tastes really good even if it is inside a bowl that you stick your head into, He is also still the biggest and the best looking of the litter. I would have chosen him as my favorite to keep if he wasn't a male, as Daddy Zachary Pierre is an exceptional male who believe it or not ,has never done the male spraying thing, for this reason I am not going to bring another male into his territory, his child, neutered or not. I definitely will not push my luck on this one. He is a really good cat.

Speaking of Leo the Lion, He is being adopted already and as soon as he is old enough will be going to live with Brittany in Doddridge County, WV. Brittany is anxiously waiting to bring him home and we email back and forth alot.

Becca (blue female) likes the chicken as well and is learning the litter box issues too. She thinks I am a tree and climbs up my leg and into my lap, she also cries alot when the wrestling is going on, she does love to play but does not like the rough stuff, she is so furry and adorable and I love to fluff up her fur as it is so soft and she just loves to be petted and scratched underneath her chin. her coat is going to be so nice as she grows. Her eyes are still blue but I can see them starting to change when I look into her adorable little face when she wants me to hold her, their are little glints of cooper begining.

Ms. Chevious Izzie Bella Fuzzybutt is still trying to master both the litter box and licking at the solid food, she wanted to eat the shredded chicken but could nor seem to figure out the chewing, she just licked at it and went back to mom for nursing. I haven't seen her drinking water yet , she will stick her paw into the water bowl and lick it off.

Aunt Zoe comes to visit and touches them ever so gently, talks to them and watches them with awe when they are playing. Zoe would have been a great mom too, as she took to Abagail when we first brought her home and cleaned her, they slept together, for the longest time side by side, I think Abigail thought she was her other mom.

Daddy Zach looks huge when he is standing beside them and he gets close enough to sniff but usually watches from a distance.

Stay tuned as these little furrie purries are definitely keeping me on the go.

The fur balls are now 22 days old

The kittens are growing very quickly and are staying awake for longer periods of time,

When they were newborns all they did pretty much was to eat and sleep, they are now developing little nubs of teeth and they are walking around better on all four legs, they dragged and scooted the back legs for the first two weeks,

The little black kitten, I call him Cinder, is by far the most advanced to date. He was the first to get his back legs moving well and now goes so fast that he is almost running and then his big fat head throws him off balance and he falls down. They are beginning to play in a clumsy sort of way with each other and trying to bat at strings, balls, mom, etc. They are still quite wobbly and uncoordinated and will lay on their backs waving their little paws at your finger and strings, I must admit that they are quite adorable and are the softest little fur balls, I have really enjoyed watching them grow..

They recognise my voice and come to visit me and sniff my hand whenever I am changing water and food etc. .Mother Abigail is still a good mom and growls at my son and his girlfriend when they come to visit, she is also obsessed with trying to move them at times. Daddy Zack still does not pay much attention to them but would love to do the wild thing with Mom again, I have to make sure he is on the screen porch or in another room when she does take a break from the babies. Just as in real life the mom tends the young and dads have all the fun.
Last weekend, I think it was Sunday morning I came in to check on everyone and Abigail was in her cage which is 4 ft high x 4 ft. wide with three benches at varying heights, Abigail was all alone in the cage. (we call it her kitty condo as she has always slept in it since she was a tiny kitten with the door open) No kittens anywhere. I knew that they had to be in the room because the bedroom door was closed. I have an old Waterfall full size bed in this room , as it serves as a guest room when we have visitors, the bed sits very close to the floor, two inches off the ground I would say, as I can barely get the hose to the vacuum under it when cleaning. I knew the kittens had to be under the bed, so I get down on my tummy with a flashlight and see them way in the back of the floor, near the wall, out of reach, under this bed that practically sits on the floor.

I go get my husband Gary for help, in rescuing the babies, because his arms are longer and perhaps he can reach them. He gets down on his belly with the flashlight and the little black kitten which I call Cinder comes right out wobbling towards the light. All the others are sleeping in a heap and no amount of calling gets them up and moving. I figure that when they are hungry that they will come out just like Cinder.

I get absolutely nothing accomplished this day as I am watching and waiting for the babies to come out, This fiasco begins at around 10:00 am. and continues until 5:30 in the evening. I, meanwhile am laying on my tummy, shining a flashlight with one hand and gently poking the remaining three kittens with a long stick trying to wake them up and am by this point frantic because they have not eaten in many hours and am afraid that they might be comatose or worse. (I stress as bad as mother Abigail about these fur balls)

I finally get Gary to take the bed apart and we rescue the babies and return them to Mom who is in the kitty condo with Cinder, who has had mom all to himself all day and has been nursing most of the day. I told you that he is smart, this kitten is a genius, he has had it made all day long.

Now that I know they are safely tucked away inside the kitty condo with Mom, who has lost open door privileges for causing so much commotion, I feel much better.

Monday morning I open the kitty condo door as I have blocked up all possible openings so that Ms. Abigail cannot take the kittens back under the bed, Zach is asleep on my bed and Abigail is downstairs being social with Zoe and Ms. Lew for a few minutes while the babies are napping. I see Abigail going back up the steps to check on her babies and before I can climb the steps she is running across the upstairs hall with a lilac Himalayan kitten by the scruff of its neck. ( I am keeping this kitten and I have named her Ms. Mischievous Izzie Bella Fuzzybutt. I rescue Izzie and return both of them to the kitty condo with the door closed, as I cannot be constantly chasing Abigail and returning the kittens to the kitty condo. I do realize that it is normal for moms to move their kittens for whatever their reason might be, but in this three story house with three other cats also in residence, I think it is much safer to keep the kittens in the bedroom confined in the kitty condo, away from the other cats, until the babies are big enough to have the run of the house. I can picture the future in my mind already, Abigail is not going to be happy in the next few weeks when the kittens climb out of the kitty condo and become independent, and are not constantly underneath her feet where she can keep an eye on them.

Stay tuned for more of the perils of Abigail and the growing kittens.

The babies are growing quickly

The kittens have doubled their weight in size at 11 days old and are wobbling around the cage a little more, they look like little bobble heads the way they wobble to and fro. They opened their eyes yesterday and although it will probably take a few days for them to see clearly, they look as if they are trying to take in the world. They all have blue eyes at this point,a blue, gray smokey color and at the end of next week the eyes should start changing to a permanent color if some of them are not going to remain blue. Daddy Zachary has big copper colored eyes and if any of the kittens get this color it should be the black and blue persian. The himalayans should keep the blue color. I am hoping for all eyes to remain blue as I love those pretty baby blues.

Abigail loves her babies very much and continues to be a great mom, she still cleans up after them and after every meal licks their little bottoms as it stimulates them to potty. Around the end of week three and into week four we will have to introduce the litter box and make some kitten glop and start them on the road to solid foods, I am sure Abigail will be happy to stop nursing as their little nubby teeth will be coming in and the way the pull at her now while nursing, it sometimes looks painful.

They are able to purr already, I noticed it while they were nursing today,

They are going to be very pretty kittens and all have the flat face and big wide head like daddy Zach. The lilac himalayan is the biggest one and I cannot tell for sure as yet, but I bet he is a boy and is the nicest of the litter thus far. A show cat he could be, He was the fourth one born.
